About West Sussex

Drawn to West Sussex by its attractive climate, vineyards flourish here and visitors are welcome. From self-guided rambles through the vines to fascinating tours, exclusive talks, wine-paired meals and unique experiences, winemakers are delighted to show off their wares. You can even stay overnight on some estates to extend your outing. And why not? There’s plenty to explore.

Our sparkling coast, verdant countryside and majestic south downs are dotted with foodie opportunities. From fresh seafood on the coast to charming village Inns and lavish Michelin-star restaurants, you’ll find plenty of delicious seasonal produce using locally sourced ingredients. You can pick up some to take home with you from the plethora of farm shops and markets too.

Artists and creatives have always found the diverse West Sussex landscape inspirational, and gardeners are no different. In recent years formerly neglected parks have been brought back to their full, and stunning, potential, see Leonardslee. Small and beautiful gardens, such as Denman’s, delight the eye, and our Manor House gardens like Borde Hill and Standen are a floral treat. Romantic Nymans is a highlight and we have a treasure trove of protected seeds from all over the world in the Millennium Seed Bank at Wakehurst. Look out for art trails, light shows and festivals throughout the year. Our gardens aren’t just for summer and many open their doors all year round.
